  1. I was just reading the post on sikhsangat, i thought arya samajis were real hindus, puratan hindus who have rejected loads of baseless rituals and bout pooja(idolatry).. i never thought they were doing same thing as rss doing right now like absorbing other faiths into their fold by similiarity card game.

I heard also sanatan singh sabha led by baba khem singh bedi was led by arya samajis as a result tat khalsa singh sabha came, bhai kahn singh nabha wrote a book - "Ham Hindu Nahin" i also heard from the other side in the course of this challenge, there was lot of questionable(bandi) parchar was done by tat khalsa compare to parchar of nirmala's which was done in form of lecture.

Benti to scholars on this site- please shed some light creation of arya samajis, effect on arya samajis on sikhs, whole idealogy of arya samajis?

  2. If Maharaj has addressed the panth in Angrezi, it would would have been the Queens English, not in the accent of the general secretary of the local Gurdwara.

Guru Gobind Singh Ji was a master linguist and polyglot.

Although amused at first, I felt sad afterwards that the portrayal of a story that has inspired millions to become Lions over the last 300 years, today inspires laughter, down to irresponsibilty.

Alongside Bhai Daya Singh Ji calling Guru Ji "Singh" before Maharaj was given amrit, Guru Ji putting patisah into the amrit, amrit being prepared in "?" not sarbloh, and the secret of where the blood on the sword came from finally being revealed by the animation company!

I pray that this cartoon does not become standard UK primary school educational issue! Poor little Sikh kids!

great post i agree with you veer !.

    Really sad :(

  3. oh saw match between SA VS SL, oh boi what a match this was, after watching south african batting at the starting, i was convinced that they will beat sri lanka with 5 wickets until they reached 206 mark, they only needed 5 more runs to win, they were 206-5 but from 206-207 they lost 4 wickets!!!!!!!!!!!!! unbeleivable heart throbbing match.. this proves that no matter how strong your team might be, pressure gets to everyone no matter who you are...eventually sa barely beat sri lanka !

New Delhi: Chasing a small target of 210 runs, South Africa trembled badly but somehow managed to survive an exceptional spell from fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who took four wickets in fours balls and finally win a nail-biting thriller by one-wicket in a Super Eights match at Guyana.

South Africa, who had earlier restricted Sri Lanka to 209, and were hardly having any problems as they placed themselves comfortably at 206 for 5 in 45th over, needing just another 5 runs to win the match but then Malinga turned the wheels around and suddenly came off in devastating style as the Proteas lost four wickets for just one run.

And though finally, it was Charl Langeveldt's five-wicket haul and Jacques Kallis's 86 that stood tall for the South Africans and took the game away from the islanders but the scare that Malinga created had shaken one and all in the South African dressing room.

Lankans showed that they are no easy opponents as they always kept the pressure on the Proteas even while defending a small total as they kept on taking the wickets at regular intervals, although Kallis managed to keep one side of the wicket.

And had Sri Lankans scored a few more runs, the result would have been something else.

South Africans were placed comfortably at 206 for 5 when Malinga suddenly turned everything around as he claimed the wicket of Pollock to start with. A slower ball on the stumps, Pollock just does not pick it, plays inside the line of the ball and loses his leg stump.

Then he gave another speared-in yorker this time to Hall, who just about managed to dig it out, but he can't keep the ball down as it pops up into the air for the man at cover to catch easily.

Now on a hat-trick chance, Malinga was not going to give it up for anything on earth, and this time a full, furious, outside off stump ball that Kallis goes for a square-drive and nicks it behind.

Suddenly, Proteas were eight down for 207 runs yet needing just three runs to win. But Malinga was all determined and he made it four out of four.

A screaming yorker from the man and Ntini drives, bat comes inside the line and ball crashes into the off stump in 46.2 overs.

Hence, it was up to the last wicket to do it for the South Africans, which finally the Proteas managed to keep the nerves and do it by one wicket in 48.2 overs.

Earlier, South Africa lost an early wicket in the form of opener AB de Villiers for a duck off Chaminda Vaas's bowling in the first over itself. But Skipper Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis steadied the innings and then Gibbs along with Kallis made sure that they don't let the good start slip away from their hands.

  5. Lets talk cricket, who you think will win world cup this year?

India and pakistan are long gone now, they didnt even make it out from first round, real disappointment.

I think this year- Australia have more chances again, West Indies 2nd, 3rd Sri Lanka, South Africa may not even make it to Semi Finals, I am hard core fan of South Africa, but after looking at the recent performance against Australia, aussies have once again proven that they can ball as well as bat, South Africa can bat very well but when it comes to ball, they havent reached the mark yet.

What you think? who you think will win the world cup cricket this year? and why?

  6. I was listening to some katha recently, and the katha wachak said that the Khalsa is the four castes combined. this is how he explained it:

Brahman - when SIkh read bani praises Akal

Khatri - when Sikhs protect the weak and innocent

Vaish - when Sikh works dasan noha di kamai

shudra - when a sikh Serves other humans

What are your thoughts on this?

    chatanga

    thats a nice analogy :D

  7. Purpose of all those other creations should be reminder to us humans that its only humans who are given bibek buddhi to filter truth(sat) from ignorance(avidya), illusion.

In gurbani there are many quotes proving that human life is priceless-

gobind millan ki eh tari varaiya avar kaach teriae kithae na kam mil sadhsangat baaj kavial naam ||

And the real reason that god has created other micro-organisms, dinosaurs,Apes and neanderthal etc is because they are in the cycle of nature- balancing things out for example- sikhi fully beleives person who do bad karma ends up being reincarnated as animals which is consider as a suffering jaun(life cycle), and animals dont have vichar shakti, just there to spend there time of suffering because there were at one point human, they are there to serve their punishment until whatever time they are given after that they transcedent back to human life which is consider in sikhi an priceless gift from vahiguroo himself. If one can fully understand that human life is priceless should be spent in good deeds and meditating on god's name, one doesnt go through reincarnations in animal cycles.

There are four types of kirpa (grace) one goes through in order to meet Vahiguroo-

    a) first kirpa is given to human is actual human life to vichar- whats your essence? where you come from? whats your real self ? etc, that is straight given by vahiguroo. We should remember that.

    B) second kirpa is kirpa of shaastar/gurbani, where gurbani an divine discourse tells us and make us understand concept about life, reality, illusion, our real self(soul/atma),mind, ignorance, reincarnations, 5 vices- anger, lust, attachment, greed, ego and much more

    c) third kirpa is kirpa of a sant, kirpa of sant is important because through real sant, one can really understand deep gurbani meanings, lets just put it this way, having teacher(sant/vidya gurdev) really helps an individual to decipher the gurbani message because they make very very simple for us to understand, comprehend and act up on it with their discourses.

    d) last kirpa is kirpa of their own self, if one gets all the above three kirpa that means gyan(knowledge) is there but its just a matter of acting upon it so reach the realm of bhramgyan/atamgyan not just book gyan but that knowledge which can be expereinced on each level in life, in order to have that one need to make actual effort, without one effort everything is useless. In house of guru nanak dev ji, effort(karni) is everything.

    hope that helps :D

  8. I think from sikh socio-religious context maryada does not recommend to marry from other dharam mainly because of many obstacles ie- cultural clash as well as someone point out kids may face strong indentity crisis.. however from sikh mystical point of view, its perfectly alright. When I meant mystical context i meant between sant mandali ie- sant from sikh dharam marrying hindu santani etc.

  9. First of all , let me be clear this topic is "nowhere an personal attack to personal individuals/jatha who have fought during the times of 1980's". However this topic touches a very fine mindset of an true militant who have got complete understanding of "dharam yudh maryada" within sikhism and examples of shaheedi set by our beloved Guru Sahibs- Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

I think every sikh with bibek buddhi can somewhat agree that not all sikh militants back in the time of 1980-1995 were 100 percent genuine and they were some who were driven by vengeance not "revenge". This two different terms, vengeance is state of mind where a person who is soo driven by it, that will use any "unjustified force" to eliminate the target, even though that unjustified force will kill innocent civilians. Whereas true sikh of sri guru gobind singh ji, will use only "justified force" to eliminate the target that means abort the missions if its turning out that there are innocent civilians on the way of target. In real world, this is painful, talk to any militants around the world, amount of pressure they get and planning they have spent to eliminate the target is over-whelming, hence in their dictionary if target (ruthless opressors/killer) is eliminated even in the cost of one-two innocent civilians is acceptable, but remember we are not just any joe blow sormaie/soldiers , we are given an beautiful concept of saint and sipahi, we are given ideals of khalsa, shaheedi, maryada in the dharam yudh. In the dharam yudh, singh under no circumstances doesnt not target - innocent civilians. Regardless how much pressure, how much planning is done to kill targets, singh should instantly boycatt/cancel the mission to target (ruthless killers/oppressors) after knowning it will cost an live of an innocent.

Classical example of such sikhs who have gravely failed to be sikhs of sri guru nanak dev ji let alone- sant-sipahi, or shaheeds is an clip below, fwd to 3 minute- http://media.cbc.ca:8080/ramgen/cbc.ca/new...wski_030909b.rm

Quote " There will be sikhs around, thats a price of our revolution".

Now its sikhs in the interview shown in the clip, i dont care where they from, which group they belong, they have every terrorist intent around that time in their mind to target anyone , have no regards for life of an innocent individuals, as sikhs in that clip said- after all this is the price of our revolution.

not targetting the jatha/personality but targetting the mindset of such fanatics, question to sangat , do they qualify to call themselves sant sipahi of sri guru gobind singh ji? if they were killed, do they qualify to be in realm of shaheedi which is very very pure concept laid down by examples of our guru's, sahibzadas, great warriors- baba deep singh ji, 40 mukhte, great mothers within khalsa panth. Do they qualify to have their names read next to great warriors like- baba deep singh??

Sikh need to be first sant (dya, dharam, sat, santokh, gyan) and then sipahi, its not other way around, only sipahihood in an person makes them demonic/tamoguni nothing else. You need santhood first and sipahi to anaylise each and every suitation in dharam yudh to questions- how much justified force need to be used? do assessment of dharam yudh, how is it impacting other innocent civilians life? how can one eliminate an target(ruthless killers/oppressors) soo pricesly that no innocent life is lost. And no these attributes of santhood first then sipahihood and questions and assesmment of dharam yudh is not only limited to only jathedar but each one of us who have desire to be shaheeds for the panth and Guru have this responsiblity.

Call this personal opnion since i dont have direct proof but fight for khalistan was failed because some in the movement

    a) were just people, joe blow soramaie with terrorist intent use khalsa panth for their personal revenges ie- oh guy killed my family, i m going to kill his, all in the garb of kesh, dhara and all in garb of khalsa panth

    B) gov't infiltration, nobody is ignoring that, however to use this govt inflitration on every stance is foolishness. to even be more foolish that to deny lack of acknowledgement that there is strategic failure.

    c) lack of acknowledgement that there is such thing as "sikhs with terrorist intent, fanaticism within sikhs.

    d) ignoring dharam yudh maryada the points are listed in sri dasam granth.

    e) ignoring the concept of santhood (dya, dharam, sat, santokh, gyan) and then sipahi, its not other way around, only sipahihood in an person makes them demonic/tamoguni nothing else.

Last but not least, yesterday i went to gurdwara, its my personal observation, but in the langar hall, all i can see pictures of "shaheeds" with no description of what they did, how genuine they were etc. This leads to great misconception if forgein reporter, media person walks in, he/she all they will see its guns, violence ruthless killers thats what they see , they need more information to change what they saw. This needs to be changed, description needs to be added, as for calling each and every sikh with gun in the langar hall - shaheed, i wouldnt go that far, i would hold my judgement until i study them, i think shaheed label itself just like- sant, bhramgyani, gyani, das is been over used and over abused.

Its about time we all re-evaulate our stance on concept of shaheedi laid by our beloved guru's via santhood-sipahihood, dharam yudh maryada lets not use pure term very freely, losely. Not saying to be hard core skeptic fanatic either but just have open mind, bring your own opnion after studying them.
